Visitor Receipts

 

Receipts for the month of June aggregated to about Php 27,136.52 Million, posting an impressive growth of 30.68% from June 2016 earnings amounting to Php 20,765.29 Million.


The Average Daily Expenditure (ADE) for the month in review is Php 6,229.27 posting an increase of 20.26% or an additional daily spent of Php 1,049.41. The Average Length of Stay (ALoS) of tourists in the country is recorded at 10.04 nights, longer by 5.02% compared to the ALoS of 9.56 nights in June 2016. On the other


 

Korea is the top spending market with receipts amounting to about Php 8.75 billion for the month of June. China remained the second top spending market with almost Php 5.25 billion spending. USA placed third with Php 2.62 billion spent followed by Taiwan with estimated Php 2.14 billion spending and Japan with Php 2.13 billion.

Among the top twenty markets, Taiwan registered the highest per capita expenditure for two consecutive months. In average, a visitor from Taiwan spent Php 116,443.45 while in the country. Visitors from Vietnam followed with Php 97,440.99 per capita spending. Korea recorded a high per capita expenditure of Php 80,722.99. Other top markets with high per capita spending include China with Php 79,420.88, Norway with Php 59,981.81 and Malaysia with Php 59,883.58.

The country welcomed 474,854 tourists for the month of June, up by 3.42% from the 459,138 arrivals in June 2016.

By sub-regional grouping, East Asia is the biggest source of arrivals with 239,987 arrivals with a market share of 50.54%. Korea, Japan and China which belong to this region accounted for 44.81% of the total volume.


North America provided the second biggest influx of tourists with 95,830 arrivals, constituting 20.18% of the total tourist traffic. This volume increased by 11.59% versus its arrivals of 85,880 for the same month last year, with all countries under this region posting double-digit gains. The ASEAN region comprised 8.35% share of the total equivalent to 39,665 arrivals.


 

By major regional grouping, the largest chunk of arrivals came from Asia, covering 61.11% of the total or 290,177 visitors. Arrivals from the Americas contributed 20.32% to total inbound volume equivalent to 96,512. On the other hand, 40,610 arrivals (8.55%) came from Europe while some 25,074 arrivals (5.28%) were from Australasia/Pacific.


Arrivals by Port of Entry

Air arrivals comprised 99.16% of the total inbound visitors, equivalent to 470,844 visitors.

A total of 312,296 tourists (65.77%) arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the primary port of entry of the country. For the major airports in Central Philippines, 91,805 visitors (19.33%) entered through Mactan-Cebu International Airport while 44,456 (9.36%) were received at Kalibo International Airport. Clark International Airport recorded 19,661 of the visitors while the rest of the airports accumulated 2,626 arrivals.


Visitor Markets, June 2017

The Korean market continue to provide the biggest arrivals to the country by producing 108,455 arrivals for the month in review. The United States of America ranked second with 84,676 visitors, an increase of 10.58% from its arrivals in June 2016 of 76,575. China followed with 66,066 arrivals which is 18.80% higher than its 55,610 visitor count in June last year. Japan at 4th spot provided 38,261 visitors to the country.


Taiwan which contributed 18,374 visitor count is just ahead of Australia with 18,178 arrivals. Completing the top 10 markets are Singapore with 15,022 arrivals, Malaysia with 11,633 arrivals, United Kingdom with 11,237 arrivals and Canada with 10,856 arrivals.

Arrivals from India surged to 8,988 with 20.31% increase, followed by Hongkong with 8,191 arrivals. The top 20 markets this month includes the following: Germany with 4,513 arrivals, Indonesia with 4,317 arrivals, Guam with 4,096 arrivals, Vietnam with 3,597 arrivals, Thailand with 3,279 arrivals, Saudi Arabia with 3,228 arrivals, France with 2,937 arrivals, and the Norway with 2,676 arrivals.



Visitor Receipts

 

Tourism activities generated earnings amounting to Php 146.34 billion for the first half of the year. The month of May recorded the biggest receipts of Php 27.86 billion as well as the highest growth of 39.62%


Visitor Arrivals

 

Philippine tourism proved its strength in arrival growth for the first half of 2017 by receiving a total of 3,357,591 visitors. Another milestone is reached as visitor count for the first six months surpassed the 3 Million arrivals mark, surpassing the 2,978,438 count for the same period last year. The biggest volume was recorded in the month of January while the highest growth was registered in April.

Countries from Asia has already delivered 2,040,596 arrivals, posting a market share of 60.78%. Huge segment came from East Asia with 1,731,463 arrivals (51.57%) while the remaining portions came from the ASEAN with 243,065 arrivals (7.24%) and South Asia with 66,068 arrivals.

The Americas accumulated a total of 630,524 arrivals, a slice of 18.78% from the total visitor traffic. On the other hand, arrivals from Europe reached a total of 365,228 (10.88%) while some 166,053 arrivals (4.95%) were from Australasia/Pacific.

Visitor Markets

 

Korea is the biggest visitor-generating market for the country which already provided a total of 795,085 arrivals, covering 23.68% of the total. The United States of America is the second top source market, passing the half million mark for the market with an aggregate volume of 513,443 visitors. This market comprised 15.29% of the total inbound visitors. Visitor count from China reached 454,962 arrivals, a share of 13.55%. Japan ranked fourth with 294,080 arrivals, forming 8.76% of the total volume.

 

Australia which provided 130,992 arrivals secured the fifth spot trailed closely by Taiwan with 127,017 arrivals. Completing the top 10 markets are Canada with 108,243 arrivals, United Kingdom with 93,649 arrivals, Singapore with 85,207 arrivals and Malaysia with 72,211 arrivals

Among the top 10 markets, China posted the highest growth of 33.44%. Canada also posted notable growth of 18.41%.

 

The top 11-14 markets include Hongkong with 55,653 arrivals, India with 54,663 arrivals, Germany with 47,997 arrivals and France with 38,890 arrivals. Completing the top 20 sources are Indonesia with 28,213 arrivals, Saudi Arabia with 24,556 arrivals, Thailand with 23,994 arrivals, Viet Nam with 21,903 arrivals, Russia with 19,365 arrivals and the Netherlands with 17,839 arrivals.
